Gut Health

Gut Health
The human gut is more intricate and significantly influences the overall health of an individual.
A healthy gut supports a robust immune system, a healthy heart, a healthy brain, a better mood, restful sleep and efficient digestion. It may also help avoid some malignancies and autoimmune disorders.

# Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD):
A chronic inflammation of the intestines which is not due to infections or other identifiable causes. There’s a continuous trigger of the body's immune system to produce an inflammatory reaction in the intestinal tract.
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are 2 types of IBD, which involve chronic inflammation and have severe symptoms including diarrhoea, chronic fatigue, weight loss and abdominal pain or cramping.
# Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS):
It is actually not classified as a disease, but instead It's a functional disorder or a syndrome where a group of symptoms occur together. The symptoms are abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, diarrhoea or constipation (or both, alternating) and gas.
In IBS chronic, low-grade, subclinical inflammation has been implicated in the disease process. IBS is considered a chronic symptom that requires lifelong management, although only a small percentage of patients with IBS have severe symptoms
# Leaky Gut:
When intestinal walls work properly, it forms a tight barrier that controls what gets absorbed into the bloodstream and what not. An unhealthy gut lining may have large cracks or holes, allowing partially digested food, toxins, and bugs to penetrate the tissues beneath it. This may trigger inflammation and changes the gut flora (normal bacteria) that could lead to problems within the digestive tract and beyond.

# Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD):
is a common condition in which the stomach contents move up into the oesophagus. Reflux becomes a disease when it causes frequent or severe symptoms or injury. Reflux may damage the esophagus, pharynx or respiratory tract. Heartburn, regurgitating sour or bitter liquid to the throat or mouth, Non-burning chest pain, Difficulty swallowing are common finding.
# Gluten intolerance,
also called gluten sensitivity, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, or non-celiac wheat sensitivity, is a disorder where your body reacts badly to eating gluten.
Stomach bloating and pain, Diarrhoea, constipation, or vomiting, Tiredness or fatigue, Bone or joint pain, Headaches, Itchy skin are some symptoms.
You may have wondered that for a long time in your life you were okay with gluten but now something has gone wrong? A primary cause of poor gut health or dysbiosis, is an unhealthy lifestyle, untimely or improper diet and other unhealthy practices. Frequent use of medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or painkillers, frequent and unjust use of antibiotics and excessive use of acid blocking drugs can all contribute to an unhealthy gut environment. Additional triggers include chronic stress, frequent consumption of alcohol, substance abuse, pesticides and chemicals in our food.
How Ayurveda see Gut Problem ?:
In Ayurveda it is believed that abnormalities of jatharagni (digestive power) leads to the morbid accumulation of the mala (bodily wastes) and ‘Ama’ (proinflammatory waste-product of improper digestion), which obstructs various internal microchannels (as we observe in chronic inflammation) and in turn tend to cause multiple diseases and particularly various Udara Roga.
The management of these gut problems include dietary and lifestyle changes and some herbs which help to improve the strength of their digestion and health of intestine. When gut health improves, so do other things.
By making healthy changes now, you can make a difference to your health outcomes. To maintain health and fight diseases, the body needs the right nutrients, at the right time, and in the right ratio.
